Geographic Location is a good ice-breaker and also helps team members to learn a little bit about each other.
Running the activity:
- Explain to participants that each one will be a geographic location (e.g.: their country, city or neighborhood).
- Show where is north and south in the room.
- Ask each participant to move to where they think they belong in order to create a map as close to scale as possible.
- After everyone moves to their spot, ask one volunteer to draw a map representing the room.
This is a great activity to use when team members are still getting to know each other. It gives people something to talk about, like: “I didn’t know you were born in Rio de Janeiro! How is it over there?”. Collectively drawing brings unexpected and funny results.
