Geographic Location is a good ice-breaker and also helps team members to learn a little bit about each other.

Running the activity:

  1. Explain to participants that each one will be a geographic location (e.g.: their country, city or neighborhood).
  2. Show where is north and south in the room.
  3. Ask each participant to move to where they think they belong in order to create a map as close to scale as possible.
  4. After everyone moves to their spot, ask one volunteer to draw a map representing the room.

This is a great activity to use when team members are still getting to know each other. It gives people something to talk about, like: “I didn’t know you were born in Rio de Janeiro! How is it over there?”. Collectively drawing brings unexpected and funny results.
