Hopes and Concerns is a great activity for getting people to open up and share their hopes and concerns before getting into a session or a workshop.

Running the activity

  1. Draw a vertical line on a canvas separating it on two sides with the titles as Hopes and Concerns
  2. Ask the participants to write down on a post-it their hopes and concerns for the given workshop/session/period?
  3. Group conversation about the notes

This activity is especially useful for getting people to open up and talk their feelings before starting on a session. It enables the participants to share their feelings regarding something about to happen; therefore it is a futurospective activity. Consider revisiting the hopes and concerns to verify if people feelings have changed as the session progresses.
