Hopes and Concerns is a great activity for getting people to open up and share their feelings about what’s ahead.

Running the activity:

  1. Draw a vertical line on a canvas, splitting it on two sides with the titles: Hopes and Concerns.
  2. Ask participants to write down on a sticky note their hopes and concerns for what’s ahead (an event, workshop, next release, new project etc.).
  3. Group conversation about the notes.

This activity is especially useful for getting people to open up and talk about their feelings regarding something that is about to happen; therefore, it is a futurespective activity. Consider revisiting the hopes and concerns over time to verify if they are being addressed.

Remote-team advice: This activity works well for remote teams. Use a remote board of your choice.
