The Strategy DHM activity helps a group of people frame their strategy, looking at it from 3 perspectives: Delight the customer, Hard to copy advantage, and Margin enhancing.
Running the activity
- Ask people to add notes to each of the three areas, answering the following questions:
- How will we delight our customers?
- What is our ‘hard to copy advantage’?
- How will we increase our margin?
- Cluster similar notes
- Group conversation
- Plan the next steps
This activity is inspired in the DHM Model shared by Gibson Biddle from Netflix on this blog post. You can either run it as one question at a time– Delight the customer, the Hard to copy advantage, and then Margin enhancing –, or all at once (everyone add notes to all areas and the same time). Either way, do allocate enough time to cluster the ideas and have a good group conversation.
